Booking
How do I book a self-drive car with Zymo?
Booking is simple. Open the Zymo app or website, select your city, choose your dates and pick-up time, and then select the car that suits you. Complete a quick sign-up, add your licence details, pay online and your booking is confirmed instantly.
In which cities is Zymo available?
Zymo works with multiple self-drive partners across India and is available in 60+ cities. Availability of specific cars and partners depends on your chosen city and dates, and is shown in real time inside the app or on zymo.app.
Do I need a driving licence to book a self-drive car?
Yes. A valid Indian driving licence for LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) in your name is mandatory to drive a self-drive car. Digital licences from DigiLocker or mParivahan may be accepted for verification, but you should also carry the original at the time of pickup as required by the rental partner.
What is the minimum age limit for booking a self-drive car?
In most cases you must be at least 18 years old with a valid driving licence. Some rental partners may have a higher minimum age or minimum driving experience for certain cars, for example premium or luxury vehicles. The exact requirement is shown for each car before you confirm your booking.
Can I choose the exact car model I want to drive?
Yes, Zymo lets you browse and pick from a wide range of hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, MPVs, luxury cars and EVs listed by different partners. You will always see the car category and model before you pay. Final allocation depends on partner availability at the time of your trip.
Can I book an electric vehicle (EV) on Zymo?
Yes, EVs are available in select cities on Zymo. You can filter by Electric Vehicles while searching. Availability depends on your city and dates. For longer trips, we recommend planning your charging stops in advance using public-charger apps.
Can I book a car for a few hours or only for full days?
You can book for a few hours, a full day, a weekend or even longer. Many partners offer flexible hourly, daily, weekly and monthly packages. The available packages for a specific car are shown on the booking screen.
Can I extend my booking after the trip has started?
In many cases yes, as long as the same car is available for the extended period and the partner approves. You can request an extension from the My Bookings section in the app or website. Extra charges are calculated based on the additional duration and kilometres chosen.
Why should I choose Zymo over other self-drive apps?
Zymo is an aggregator that compares self-drive options across multiple trusted partners, so you see more cars and clearer prices in one place instead of hopping between apps. You get transparent pricing, a wide choice of cars, EV options, flexible packages and a growing network of cities — all under the Zymo experience.
Can I book a car for road trips like hill stations, pilgrimages or beach holidays?
Yes, Zymo is ideal for weekend getaways and long road trips with friends or family. You can choose spacious SUVs or MPVs for long journeys, or compact hatchbacks and sedans for smaller groups. Just make sure your selected package includes enough kilometres for the round trip and that you follow the partner’s inter-state travel rules.
Can I book a car for special occasions such as weddings, photo shoots or corporate events?
Yes. Many partners list premium and luxury cars which are suitable for weddings, shoots, VIP pick-ups and corporate events. Simply select your city, filter by higher-segment vehicles and choose the dates and timings that match your event.
Documentation
What documents are required to book a car?
Typically you need: (1) a valid Indian driving licence for LMV in your name, and (2) a government-issued photo ID such as Aadhaar, PAN or passport. Some partners may ask for additional verification at the time of pickup. The exact requirements are shown during the booking process.
Are digital documents accepted?
Many partners accept digital driving licences and ID proofs from DigiLocker or mParivahan for initial verification, but you should still carry the original licence at the time of pickup if asked. Always follow the document instructions shown for your chosen car before the trip.
Can non-Indian citizens book a car on Zymo?
In some cities, partners may allow bookings by non-Indian citizens with a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) and passport. Because this depends on the rental partner and city, you should check the details on the car listing and contact support through the Help section if you are unsure.
Payments & Policies
How can I pay for my booking?
You can pay online through commonly used options such as UPI, debit or credit cards and net-banking, depending on the partner. All payments are processed securely through the payment gateway shown at checkout.
Is there a security deposit required?
Most self-drive partners require a refundable security deposit to protect against fines, tolls, fuel differences and damage. The exact amount and refund process depend on the car and partner and are clearly displayed before you pay.
When will my security deposit be refunded?
Once your trip is completed and the partner confirms that there are no pending fines, fuel differences or damages, the deposit is initiated for refund. Depending on the partner and your bank or payment method, this usually reflects within a few working days. You can track the status from the My Bookings section.
Are there any hidden charges apart from the rental price?
Zymo encourages transparent pricing. All mandatory charges are shown before you pay. However, additional charges may apply if you exceed your kilometre limit, return the car late, return it with less fuel than at pickup, incur traffic fines or cause damage. Any such charges are applied as per the partner’s policy and are visible in your booking details.
Is fuel included in the price?
Most self-drive bookings on Zymo follow a fuel-not-included model. You pay for the fuel you use. The car is handed over with a mentioned fuel level and should be returned at the same or higher level. If it is returned with less fuel, the partner will charge for the difference as per the prevailing fuel price.
Are prices different on weekdays, weekends or holidays?
Yes, pricing can vary based on demand, city, car type and season, for example weekends, long weekends, festive periods or peak travel dates. The live price you see on the app or website for your selected dates is always the final price before taxes and any optional add-ons.
What is your general cancellation and refund policy?
Cancellation and refund rules depend on the rental partner and type of booking. Before you confirm and pay, you will see the exact cancellation policy on the checkout screen and in your booking details in the app. In general, last-minute cancellations attract higher charges, while host-initiated cancellations are typically eligible for full refunds.
What is the cancellation policy for Zoomcar bookings made via Zymo?
Some trips on Zymo are fulfilled by Zoomcar. For those bookings, Zoomcar’s own cancellation and refund policy applies. The exact refund amount, slabs and terms are always shown on your booking and cancellation screen before you confirm any change. Because Zoomcar can update these terms from time to time, always rely on the policy displayed against your specific booking rather than older screenshots or articles.
Can I modify my booking dates or timings?
In many cases, yes. You can request a modification from the My Bookings section if your trip has not started yet. Any difference in price, extra time or extra kilometres will be shown before you confirm the change. Modifications are subject to availability and partner approval.
Who is responsible for damage to the car during the trip?
You are responsible for driving safely and following traffic rules. If the car is damaged during your trip, the partner’s insurance and damage policy will apply. Depending on the severity and cause, you may need to pay an amount towards repair, deductibles or non-insurance items. The applicable policy is mentioned in the car details and in your booking terms.
Is insurance included in my booking?
Basic insurance is typically included by the rental partner as per local regulations, but it usually covers only major body damage above a certain deductible and does not cover things like interior damage, tyre damage or traffic fines. Always review the inclusions and exclusions shown for each car before confirming your booking.
Does Zymo offer promo codes or special discounts?
From time to time Zymo and its partners run limited-period offers, promo codes and special discounts for specific cities, dates or car types. These are usually highlighted on the app home screen, the Offers section or during checkout.
Do you have any loyalty or referral rewards?
Zymo may introduce loyalty, cashback or referral rewards from time to time. Because campaigns change, the most accurate information is always shown inside the app or on zymo.app during the offer period, along with detailed terms and conditions.
Where can I see my active offers or credits?
Any available promo codes, credits or offers for your account are usually visible during the booking flow on the payment screen or in the Offers or Rewards section within the app. Always apply a code before you complete the payment for it to be considered.
Trip & Vehicle
What is included in the rental price?
The rental price usually includes the selected package (hours and/or kilometres), basic insurance as provided by the partner, and standard roadside assistance where available. Fuel, state entry taxes, tolls, parking charges and traffic fines are usually not included and are payable by you.
Is it safe to book a car for late-night travel or long drives?
Zymo works only with verified self-drive partners and encourages good safety practices. Cars are regularly inspected and maintained by partners. For your personal safety, always follow traffic rules, avoid over-speeding, take regular breaks on long journeys and share your trip details or live location with a trusted friend or family member.
Can I take the car to another city or state?
In many cases you can, as long as you comply with local rules. You are responsible for paying highway tolls, inter-state entry taxes and parking charges. Some partners may restrict certain cars to specific regions or require prior intimation for out-of-state travel. These conditions are mentioned on the car listing and in the trip terms.
Is doorstep delivery and pickup available?
In many cities, partners offer doorstep delivery and pickup at your home, office or airport for an additional fee or as part of certain packages. Where it is available, you can select the location during booking and see any applicable delivery charges upfront.
Are the cars cleaned and sanitised before each trip?
Partners on Zymo are expected to hand over cars that are clean, well-maintained and road-worthy. Most partners clean and sanitise vehicles between bookings. If you ever receive a car that does not meet basic cleanliness or safety expectations, you should immediately raise a ticket through the Help section with photos.
Can I take an EV on a long-distance trip?
Yes, you can, but EV road trips need a bit more planning. Check the real-world range of the car, plan your charging stops in advance using public-charger apps, and allow extra time for charging. For very remote routes with limited charging infrastructure, a petrol or diesel vehicle may be more practical.
Is there a kilometre limit on my booking?
Most packages come with a fixed kilometre limit, for example 120 km, 240 km or 300 km per day, and a clearly mentioned extra-kilometre charge. Both are shown on the car details and on the checkout screen before you pay, and in your booking summary later.
Can I book a car for just one hour or a short city errand?
Yes, in many cities partners offer short-duration packages suitable for quick errands, meetings or airport pick-ups. Simply select your preferred start and end times while searching. If no short-duration package is visible for a particular car, that partner may only support longer bookings.
Can I keep pets in the car during my trip?
Pet policies vary by rental partner. Some allow pets with conditions, such as using seat covers and returning the car clean, while others may not. You should check the partner’s policy on the car listing and, if needed, confirm through the Help section before booking.
Do your cars have features like music systems, Bluetooth or USB charging?
Most modern cars listed on Zymo come with music systems and connectivity options such as Bluetooth, USB or AUX. Because exact features vary between models and partners, you should review the car details and photos on the listing if specific features are important for your trip.
Emergencies
What should I do if the car breaks down during my trip?
First, ensure everyone’s safety and move the car to a safe spot if possible. Then contact the rental partner using the phone number or contact option shown in your booking and raise a ticket through the Zymo Help section. The partner will guide you for roadside assistance, towing or a replacement vehicle wherever possible.
What should I do if I meet with an accident while using a Zymo car?
Prioritise safety and medical help for everyone involved. Inform the local authorities if required by law. Take photographs of the vehicle and location, and then contact the rental partner and raise a support ticket through Zymo with all details. Insurance and damage handling will follow the partner’s policy and local regulations.
Does Zymo offer 24/7 support?
For urgent trip issues, you can raise a request through the Help or Support section in the app or website at any time, and partner helpline details are available in your booking. Zymo does not operate a traditional call-centre number for general queries, so the fastest way to get help is from within the app using your active booking.
Can I get a car quickly in an emergency situation?
If cars are available near you, you can book immediately through the app or website and in some cities request fast doorstep delivery. However, availability depends on time, location and demand, so we recommend keeping some buffer whenever possible.
What happens if the host or vendor cancels my booking?
If a partner cancels your booking, you are normally eligible for a full refund. In some cases, you may also see alternative cars or partners for the same dates inside the app. Exact handling may vary by partner; the details are visible in your booking communication.
Account
Do I need a Zymo account to make a booking?
Yes. Having an account helps keep your bookings, payment details and documents secure in one place. You can sign up quickly using your mobile number and OTP, and then manage all your trips from the My Bookings section.
How can I view, modify or cancel my booking?
Open the Zymo app or website, go to My Bookings and select the relevant trip. From there you can see trip details, start or end times, pickup instructions and options to modify or cancel the booking where allowed by the partner’s policy.
How can I update my mobile number or email ID?
You can update your contact details from the Profile or Account section in the app. In some cases, you may need to verify the new number or email using an OTP. For security reasons, name and identity changes may require additional verification or support assistance.
How can I delete my account or request data deletion?
If you wish to stop using Zymo, you can raise a request through the Help section from your registered account, mentioning that you want to delete your account or request data deletion. After verifying your identity and any pending transactions, the team will process it as per applicable laws.
Extended Test-Drives & Car Buying
What is an extended test-drive on Zymo?
An extended test-drive lets you experience a car like it is already yours – not just for a short test drive at the showroom, but for a few hours or even a couple of days. You can live with the car on your real routes, with your family, luggage and daily routine, before deciding if you want to buy that model.
How is an extended test-drive different from a regular self-drive rental?
Both use similar cars and booking flows, but the intent is different. Extended test-drives are designed specifically for people who are seriously evaluating a car model. In many cases they are tied to specific variants and may come with special feedback or follow-up from the dealer or OEM, while a regular rental is purely for travel.
In which cities is the extended test-drive service available?
Extended test-drives are available only in select cities and for select models, with a strong focus on electric vehicles (EVs) and new-age cars. Availability keeps expanding, so the best way to check is to open the Zymo app and look for cars or tags marked for extended test-drives in your city.
Can I buy the car after an extended test-drive?
Zymo itself does not sell cars, but it connects you with partner dealers and brands. After your extended test-drive, you can choose to proceed with a purchase directly with the partner dealer or OEM. In many cases, your test-drive data and feedback help them tailor better offers and recommendations for you.
Are extended test-drives only for EVs?
Zymo has a strong focus on helping India adopt EVs and many extended test-drive journeys are built around electric cars. However, in some cities you may also find extended test-drives for popular petrol or hybrid models. Availability varies by brand, city and time.
Is pricing different for an extended test-drive compared to a normal rental?
Pricing and inclusions for extended test-drives are decided by partner dealers and brands and may be different from regular rentals. In some cases, special offers or benefits may be available if you later decide to buy the car you tested. All such details are shown on the car listing or shared by the partner during the journey.
